What is the nature of good?

What is the nature of good?

The nature of good, there are no exact way to define it. Good is a broad concept and is difficult to define but typically it deals with an association with life, continuity, happiness, desirability, or human flourishing.

The nature can be in many different ways but they are all very similer. Theories differ from person to person. Many believe that good is defined by religion, but there are many difference in good deeds in religion. For example muslims believe in sacrifieng animals as showing gratitide to god once everyyear on eid. But in other religions scarficing might be frowned upon or called barberic. For many good is concious, for example giving to charity there is no gain in it but it is done from the goodness of ones heart.

In modern society good is considered as actions that are morally acceptable. In my view good is a persons concious. It leads them to do good deeds like charity, helping and doing them without any gain.

Persuasive writing

Persuasive writing

Persuasive writing is opinion based writing on an issue. The writer takes a position for or against the issue and writes to convince the reader to believe and agree or do something. Writing a persuasive piece can be a difficult task, it is not stating opinion and just giving reasons. The goal is to persuade the reader into believing your opinion by using statistic, facts to prove your point.

It is important to follow persuasive writing structure and format. It should contain an introduction, a body where the argument is developed, and a conclusion. The introduction should a thesis. The opening is a big factor; it catches the readers’ attention. Openings can be unorthodox like opening with a question, anecdote.etc. For the body the writer should then provide evidence to support the opinion offered in the thesis statement in the introduction. Each paragraph should be based on a solid reason to back your thesis statement. To conclude the writer should end by summarizing the most important details of the argument and stating once again what the reader is to believe or do.

To achieve the goal of good persuasive writing, the writer must follow some guidelines like having a firm opinion that you want your reader to accept, begin with a grabber or hook to get the reader's attention, offer evidence to support your opinion and conclude with a restatement of what you want the reader to do or believe.

In order to improve in persuasive writing, the students will benefit from examples and expectations for example a guideline and a rubric. One more persuasive writing assignment will benefit the class and will help the class improve on their writing and marks with the slightest effect on the schedule.

Victory Speech

Barrack obama’s victory speech was very well prepared and was perfect in length. It was much shorter then the nomination speech but equally effective. Obama thanked everyone who helped him on his success and showed his gratitude. He connected with the crowd by saying his victory was a victory for the voters. Obama also brought out the fact of his speech being historic. Obama’s speech was a historic event due him being the first African-American United States President.

Like the previous speech he used anecdote to show the change that is already taking place in the United States with his reference to hundred and six year old voter Ann Nixon Cooper. There are a lot of similarities in Obama’s speeches; his order of approach follows a patter in both of his speeches. Obama starts off with showing his appreciation, gratitude, thanking his family for being there with him and gets to issues. This approach is very effective because the start shows his soft and compassionate side and when he approaches the issues, it shows his dedicated side and in the audiences eyes a man of action.

Obama used repetition constantly through out his speech to get the crowed involved. He used reader inclusion to connect with the crowd and mentioned everyday scenarios and how he plans to overcome them as a country. Obama’s charisma, compassion and can do attitude made his speech that much better.

Speech Analysis

I have just watched Barrack Obama’s Acceptance of the Candidacy Speech. He addressed the crowed with great confidence, charisma and he expressed his gratitude to the whole country on his success becoming the leading Democratic candidate.

After watching Obama’s style of speech and how the crowd related to everything that was mentioned in the speech I was stunned. His ability to show compassion in his voice and persuade the crowd to listen to his every word is achieved by emphasis, diction and anecdotes. Repetition of words was very effective in the speech. Obama used anecdotes to relate to the audience by sharing his past experiences. Obama’s success lies in his ability to use rhetorical, literary and narrative devices.

One aspect of the speech that was unexpected for me was the criticism of the opponent and the Bush administration by Obama. He pointed out the mistakes of the past two presidential terms and he related McCain to the mistakes. Obama mentions of McCain agreeing with Bush 90% of the time persuaded the audience more because it is real statistics. To strengthen his argument obama constantly pointed out the differentiation between him being republic and McCain democratic. Obama mentioned the problems caused by the previous administration and he shared his plans on how he and his administration will fix them if he is selected as president.

Lastly, in my opinion watching the speech gives a much better understanding of Obama’s points then reading it because of his speaking style, tone and face expressions. In addition the applause from the audience did not stop Obama from speaking with clarity and getting his points through.
