Barrack obama’s victory speech was very well prepared and was perfect in length. It was much shorter then the nomination speech but equally effective. Obama thanked everyone who helped him on his success and showed his gratitude. He connected with the crowd by saying his victory was a victory for the voters. Obama also brought out the fact of his speech being historic. Obama’s speech was a historic event due him being the first African-American United States President.
Like the previous speech he used anecdote to show the change that is already taking place in the United States with his reference to hundred and six year old voter Ann Nixon Cooper. There are a lot of similarities in Obama’s speeches; his order of approach follows a patter in both of his speeches. Obama starts off with showing his appreciation, gratitude, thanking his family for being there with him and gets to issues. This approach is very effective because the start shows his soft and compassionate side and when he approaches the issues, it shows his dedicated side and in the audiences eyes a man of action.
Obama used repetition constantly through out his speech to get the crowed involved. He used reader inclusion to connect with the crowd and mentioned everyday scenarios and how he plans to overcome them as a country. Obama’s charisma, compassion and can do attitude made his speech that much better.

This was well writen, I agree, his charisma and compassion make his speeches better. However, you could have mentioned more rhetorical devices that he used in his speech. :)

ReplyDeleteI agree with you. It's true that all of Obama's speech do follow a similar pattern with the style and content. I find it great that Obama uses examples of real and well-known people in his speeches. It really helps him connect to the audience. Great job!
